I have travelled back and forwards to Madrid with my cats on Air Europa and Iberia and have never needed a pet passport. As long as the cats have their vacinations up to date there is no problem. Its only if you go to another country where you may...
Your best bet would be to call the airline you will be travelling with - I don´t think you do need pet passports, but you better check and get it from the horse´s mouth.

I will be moving from Lanzarote to Tenerife in the near future and will be taking my cats with me and wondered if anyone knows if pet passports are required when traveling between the islands?
